Session Time: Thursday, February 8, 8:30 – 10:00 AM

Presentation Title: Compliance: A Necessary Feedstock for Your Compost Operation

Presentation Description: The permitting and compliance challenges that face large-scale compost facilities continue to become more stringent and onerous. The legal and technical framework of regulations, coupled with a company’s need to prevent and manage environmental risk can become overwhelming for some facilities to manage. But what if your compliance program could become one of your company’s superpowers? Building a robust compliance program can not only mitigate these challenges, but improve your company’s relationships with regulatory agencies, the public and your customers. Hear how Recology’s environmental team in the Pacific Northwest has built strong partnerships with operational staff and management to collaborate and proactively manage compliance requirements for its three compost facilities in Oregon, and how their program has added value to the company beyond avoiding fines and penalties.
