Presentation Title: Starting Off on the Right Foot – Recycling, Composting, and Professional Soccer
Presentation Description: We will discuss the importance of starting off a new stadium on the ‘right foot’ when it comes to their solid waste management.
We will discuss the importance of starting off a new stadium on the ‘right foot’ when it comes to their solid waste management.
From securing appropriate recycling sponsors and obtaining grant funding, to ordering proper bins and training staff and vendors, there are many balls in play when it comes to opening a stadium that diverts more waste than it throws in the trash. Waste Wise worked with the MN United and the Ramsey/Washington County Recycling and Energy Board to make sure that composting was available to fans on day one and that all aspects of the program were in place. The MN United are on pace to surpass their year 1 goal of 50% waste diversion and have set aggressive but attainable goals moving forward. We will talk about purchasing, signage development, staff training, importance of green teams and bin watchers, and ultimately fan engagement.
