Track: Marketing and Use
Session Name: Compost and Climate Resilient Landscapes – A USCC Collaboration with the American Society of Landscape Architects
Session Time: Wednesday, February 7, 4:15 – 5:45 PM
Presentation Title: Compost and Climate Resilience
Presentation Description: Compost is a general term for a wide range of soil products. We will go over different compost characteristics and how to best use compost to improve any soil. Impact of compost on a wide range of soil properties including nutrient availability, water retention and infiltration, salinity, disease resistance and bulk density will be discussed.
Workshop Time: Tuesday, Feb 6, 1:00 – 4:30
Workshop Title: Compost Carbon Connection
Workshop Description: This course will provide a detailed overview of the connection between compost and climate change, and the opportunity for composting operations and use to help reduce the impacts of climate change. Participants will leave with a good understanding of the connection between climate and composting, and with an understanding of compost operations factors impacting greenhouse gas emissions as well as potential (although still limited) opportunities for developing carbon credits associated with composting operations and sales.
