Track: Business

Session Name: Composting Infrastructure

Session Time: Wednesday, February 7, 8:15 – 9:45 AM

Presentation Title: Using Strategic Collaboration to Streamline the Permitting Process

Presentation Description: It is not uncommon for the permitting process for commercial composting facilities to take at least three to four years or more to complete. Brady Trucking Commercial Composting Facility (60,000 tons per year) situated within the city limits of Shelton, Washington is a case study demonstrating how a strategically collaborative approach resulted in an expedited outcome. The facility was successfully conceptualized, designed, permitted and constructed within two years. The presentation will summarize how that was accomplished.

Workshop Time: Tuesday, Feb 6, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Workshop Title: Adding Food Waste to your Compost Facility

Workshop Description: Operational and structural strategies to upgrade windrows and static piles to handle high energy feedstocks with mixes, pile shape, turning frequency and passive or forced aeration. During this workshop the instructors will breakdown the process of making decisions on how best to use the tools and resources a facility already has or may want and transitioning the operation to handle the contaminants and the much more aggressive biological process that food wastes present.
