VOLUNTEERS

Volunteer Application period:

THE VOLUNTEER APPLICATION CYCLE FOR COMPOST2026 IS CLOSED!

Each year, a dedicated team of volunteers helps make the USCC Conference & Trade Show possible. Volunteers support conference operations, contribute to our sustainability efforts, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the largest gathering of composting professionals in North America.

Although our volunteer application period is now closed, we invite you to learn more about what volunteers do at the conference—and consider applying next fall for COMPOST2027!

What Volunteers Do at the Conference

Volunteers play a key role in ensuring a successful, welcoming, and well-run event. During the conference, volunteers may assist with:

Registration & Welcome
Greeting attendees, distributing badges, and helping keep check-in running smoothly.

Event & Hall Support
Monitoring access to special events, assisting exhibitors, and guiding attendees throughout the venue.

Zero Waste Stations
Supporting our sustainability goals by helping attendees sort materials correctly and reduce contamination.

Workshop & Session Assistance
Checking in participants, supporting presenters, and helping sessions stay on track.

Equipment Demo Day
Assisting with registration, safety gear distribution, set-up, and attendee support during this major hands-on event.

Volunteers typically work short, 4-hour shifts and still have ample time to attend sessions, explore the Exhibitor Hall, and participate in conference activities.

Why People Volunteer

Volunteering is a meaningful way to:

  • Contribute to the success of the composting industry’s flagship event
  • Network with professionals from across North America
  • Gain exposure to innovative practices, equipment, and education
  • Deepen knowledge in composting, organics recycling, and sustainability

Many volunteers return year after year because of the connections they make and the experience they gain.
